Broan 744 Bathroom Fan

The Broan 744 is a recessed bathroom fan and light. The recessed light hides the visual presents of the bath fan. An Excellent Product The unit is quiet, and very inconspicuous in the ceiling. It was a little tough to connect the vent duct, but other than that, installation was straightforward. Once the ceiling went up, the unit seemed to disappear. September 27, 2010

Can this unit be used with a GE heat lamp bulb (not over shower)?

The Broan 744 is designed to work with a standard incandescent 75 watt maximum bulb, and should not be used with a heat bulb.

Are the CFMs adequate for an 8 x 7 bathroom?

Yes the Broan 744 would be adequate for that size bathroom.

Can this fan be used in shower that has a steam unit?

Yes, this is UL rated for use over bathtubs and showers when connected to a GFCI protected branch circuit.

Is this fan IC rated?

The Broan 744 is IC rated as long as the insulation does not exceed a R value of R40.

Can this product be installed inside a walk in shower?

The Broan 744 is UL Listed for use over bathtubs and showers when connected to a GFCI protected branch circuit.

is this fan suitable for a high moisture setting, can it tolerate the high moisture?

The Broan 744 is UL listed for use in damp locations. It will function properly as long as a Gfci Protected Branch Circuit With Par30L Or Par30Ln Type Bulbs are used.

Can the fan and light be switched independently?

Broan 744 can be wired so the fan and the vent are on separate switches.

Whats the max run of the exhaust line?

The Broan 744 doesn't really have a maximum run. With this unit and a 4 inch duct, once you get over 25 feet you will see a drop in performance. The longer you go and the more turns you take the worse it would be.

Is the housing IC rated (in contact with insulation)? I will be using iceneyne spay foam.

Yes, this is UL rated for use in insulated ceilings, also known at Type I.C.

Does this need to have a diffuser cover if installed in a shower?

The Broan 744 is ul listed For Use Over Bathtubs And Showers When Connected To A Gfci Protected Branch Circuit With Par30L Or Par30Ln Type Bulbs. It does not require a diffuser.

Will it work with a 1" thick plaster ceiling?

The Broan 744 will work with a 1" thick plaster ceiling.
