Get the Best Ventilation for Your Home
There are several things to consider when buying an air conditioner, but first you must select the type that best suits your needs. Once selected, you can then narrow your selection by particular features and specifications to help make your decision a breeze.
Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners: Typically found in hotels, motels, senior housing facilities and apartments. PTACs are a self-contained heating and air conditioning system that are designed to go through the wall, with their vents and heat sinks on the outside of the building.
Through Wall Units: Ideal for rooms not connected to a central system, or for a room needing specialized controls that doesn’t have the option of a window unit.
Window Units: Installs in vertical sliding windows, these units are also ideal for rooms not connected to a central system or needing independent controls. Most come with expandable side panels for a versatile fit.
Portable Units: Easy to install and extremely versatile with standard venting kits and flexible exhaust hoses available, while also being another great solution for cooling a room to a customized setting.
Evaporative / Swamp Cooler: Either portable or permanently installed, evaporative swamp coolers are efficient units that naturally cool and filter the air. These units are known for creating both cool and comfortable environments.
Central Heat and Air: Includes heat pumps and condensing units, which are the core components of whole house ac systems. These units require a licensed contractor to sign off on them after installation in order to remain under warranty.
Mini Split: A great alternative to traditional whole house or individual room cooling units. With no bulky ductwork required, these efficient systems involve a heat pump or condensing unit that connect to independently controlled air delivery units.
Remember: Clean your air filter prior to using your air conditioning unit. It's ideal to clean the filter at least once a month in order to maintain proper efficiency and air quality.
